Julian, Clay and Blair

Less than zero, ( 1987), a deep, psychological  adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis'  epic novel about three best friends torn apart by infidelity, emotions and drugs in Los Angeles.
Where we are  introduced to  the dynamics of a close friendship of Clay, Blair and Julian.

Blair, played by Jami Gertz, brings beauty a new name with luscious red lips and high class looks.

She rocks black blazers, leather jackets and pin-needle skirts all sleek with heels and rebel boots. All complementing her long curly black hair.

Clay the collegic boy, played by Andrew McCarthy, shows up off the plane in kakis, a button-up and a blazer. He wears suits and resembles a business man with a little 1980's Miami Vice look to him.
He charms us all with his deep blue eyes and cheeky smile that makes you giddy and melts Blair's heart.

Julian is a troubled rebel  with effortless style He rocks ray-bans to cover up his withdrawl -from -drug use-eyes, blazers, hawaiian t-shirts, band t-shirts and skinny jeans and pants.

Even though their lives were falling apart they all still carried a sense of personal style that was everlasting.
You don't have to downspiral to dress like this. Elegant, crazy and young in L.A.

The glamour of Studio 54 to laid-back hippy-chic and two-piece suits reminiscent of the female characters in 70’s films such as Shaft, The Graduate, Manhattan and Chinatown.

Jenny Lewis is back!

Retro, Vintage and filled with folk style.
And she sings with " desert roamin' " style

She mixes and matches with inspirations from past decades, pin-ups, country girls, 1970's bell bottoms , rompers and all adorned with her own touch of jenny-ness.
Her strawberry, orange hair just makes the look complete.

The Kills new album, "Blood Pressure"

The Kills, a.k.a Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince, are back with a Ka-pow!
Their newest album, " Blood Pressure" was just released and headlining their tour happening now.
They just played Coachella, rocked the Fillmore here in SF and now they hit the road to play other cities in the states.
This band is unlike any other, unique in sound, hardcore on guitar and lyrics that will be stuck in your head for days.
"Midnight Boom", their last album that came out in 2008 and started their epic legacy with popular hits like, " Sour Cherry, Last Day of Magic, Gettin' Down and U.R.A Fever"

And this new set of tracks is bringing something new to the table and setting the bar high for other bands. Immediately when you press play on this new playlist, the first single," Satellite" seeps through the speakers. Then the album takes you on on spins and dance rhythms.

Intensity and just all around good music come from this band.
If asked to rate this album, it would get 10 stars outta ten. This band definitely is one of my favorites and it's nice to see them make a comeback album away from their side groups these talented people have.

Welcome to COACHELLA!!!! 2011 Fashion trends and most importantly: THE PERFORMANCES!

The weekend of the 16th, 17th and 18th of April only means one thing, Desert Rats, COACHELLA!
I had the lucky chance to experience this modern-day Woodstock yet again this past April. So i packed my bags and followed the sun into blissful fashionista hippies, Hipsters, amazing artwork and lots of Spicy Pie in this annual fest that ran from thursday night campsite fun to concert filled Friday through Sunday.
The line up this year was amazing! A bunch of popular indie groups in the mix all headlined by The Kings  of Leon, Arcade Fire, Kanye West and the true N.Y. Hipsters : The Strokes.

Each year people show of their best looks in the blazing sun without even trying, it's whatever you want. The forecast for this year was all about everything across the universe and back. Concert goers were wearing everything from printed rompers, to polka-dotted dresses, maxi hippie-boho floral skirts, and tons of Levi's cut off shorts. Oh and can'f forget the 1970's floppy felt hats and sheer see-through tops and maxi skirts.

And to top it all off celebrities were raiding the desert with their fashions as well. Starts such as Katy Perry, Kate Bosworth, Nicole Ritchie, Camila Belle, Alexa Chung , Kelly Osborne and so many others.

But The best thing about this festival is the performers Golden Voice brings each year, the best bands play live shows on one of Coachella's desert named stages.
Some of my favorites were: Arcade Fire, who's encore of the hit song " Wake Up" was ended by gigantic light-up balloons that fell from the stage into the audience, The Strokes come back killer performance with witty comments made by the silly lead singer Julian Casablancas,   Robyn amazed the audience by showing her dance moves and that " fembots have feelings too," groundbreaking new band Sleigh Bells who i've seen now 4 times ( each of which amazed me) yet again stole the show with intense playing, Jenny and Johnny who brought folk at it's best , The Kills who words do not describe how amazing they were, Alison's vocals ahhh to good.
And a strange choice of closing the festival was Kanye West who surprised me, by being inventive and the very first on the Coachella main stage to come out on a " cherry picker" into the audience.

Coachella is by far the best music fest we have each year, and this year it definitely lived up to it's past standards.
And I can't wait to see who's playing next year!!
